The Work Opportunity Tax Credit (WOTC) program is a tax incentive program for employers that hire individuals from certain targeted groups. This presentation will explore over 36,000 of Florida's employers that used the Employ Florida system and hired individuals from WOTC targeted groups in the year 2016, but did not apply to be certified for the tax credit. With the minimum incentive of a qualified job seeker providing the employer with $2,400 in potential tax savings, Florida’s employers missed out on millions of dollars in potential tax savings. This presentation aims to start the conversation on how to better market the WOTC program to Florida's employers, it will provide the audience a breakdown of the number of employers that did not participate in the WOTC program, and also allow the exploration of barriers that likely hinder employers from utilizing this amazing tax incentive.
